About the role
Our team of service personnel provides front-line technical support to LGC’s repertoire of laboratory instrumentation and consumables. Field Service Engineers work directly with internal and external customers to resolve technical equipment and software problems remotely and onsite at customer locations. They provide equipment and software training, log and forward instrument issues, and engineering design requests to the Field Service Advisor team.
This role includes shadowing and assisting senior-level Service Engineers during installations, performing repairs, and conducting preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment at customer facilities. Field Service Engineers collaborate closely with the Field Service Manager and other service team members to balance resources and meet customer and organizational needs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver industry-leading service through instrument installations, training, preventative maintenance, repairs, operational assistance, and trade shows.
- Conduct onsite customer training, preventative maintenance, and instrument repairs independently.
- Provide system start-up, integration support, and production optimization to meet customer needs.
- Serve as an integral part of a team providing 24/7 on-call emergency service support and troubleshooting assistance.
- Perform on-site support for technical issues, start-up, commissioning, training, testing, repair, and preventative maintenance of equipment.
- Deliver on-site operator and technical training to customers and stay updated on new products, markets, and competitors.
- Collaborate with other Field Service Engineers and the Technical Advisor team to resolve customer issues, improve processes, and define corrective actions.
- Oversee and support special projects as assigned and delegate tasks when appropriate.
- Communicate instrument status, issues, and customer complaints to managers and the Technical Advisor Team.
- Contribute to service-related key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Fixed Right First Time (FRFT), Customer Satisfaction Index, Turnaround Time (TAT), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and days onsite at customer locations.
- Respond flexibly to business needs, addressing corporate initiatives as requested by management.
Requirements
- 2-year degree in a mechanical, industrial, or electrical technical field with knowledge of basic engineering principles, theories, and techniques or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in Field Service.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Clean criminal record due to travel visa qualification requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Field Service within the Life Science or Ag-Bio Science field.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $29–$43 USD per hour, influenced by factors such as experience, skills, and location.
