About the role

Field Service Engineer based in the Atlanta, GA area as a telecommuter, traveling to customer locations within your region. This position is responsible for on-site setup, installation, and ongoing support of EFI industrial inkjet printers at customer facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with customers on pre-installation requirements, including unloading and positioning print system components in the customer’s facility.
  • Un-crate and install controllers, print heads, remote cabinets, UV components, and verify electrical power and compressed air with a Certified Electrician.
  • Perform initial setup, adjustments, and thorough testing to ensure printed images meet factory standards.
  • Provide initial and ongoing formal customer operator and printer maintenance training, assessing training needs and recommending additional training as required.
  • Conduct periodic on-site troubleshooting and repairs for complex electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic printer issues as directed by the Field Service Manager or customer support team.
  • Document detailed technical feedback in the EFI Inkjet Case Management System (CMS) during and after each customer visit, following EFI Inkjet guidelines.
  • Travel up to 75% of the workweek, including occasional weekend work to meet customer needs, and drive to customer sites on a weekly basis.

Requirements

  • Minimum two-year technical degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, digital, and electronic technology.
  • Minimum two years in field engineering positions servicing complex electro-mechanical devices in high-demand customer environments.
  • Demonstrated customer management skills and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to independently manage a large service territory, including effective management of parts, tools, and company information.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to the component level.
  • Experience providing telephone technical support and effectively communicating with Product Service Engineers (Hardware and Applications).
  • Working knowledge of RIPS, color theory, Microsoft Windows, Linux operating systems, and basic networking protocols.
  • Working knowledge of materials and chemicals used in the printing industry (highly desirable).
  • In-depth knowledge of personal computers, industrial inkjet printers, large format printers and/or presses, and printing applications.
  • Knowledge of high and low voltage wiring, including identifying and qualifying single-phase and three-phase power requirements.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, including the ability to use critical alignment tools holding tolerances of .001".
  • Ability to frequently lift objects up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces, crawl on hard concrete floors, and physically contort to access components.
