GEA Systems North America LLC seeks a Field Service Engineer in Hudson, WI. Travel up to 80% domestically and occasional international travel.
Responsibilities
- Work focused on Blow Molders but overlaps to all pieces of beverage and filling equipment.
- Perform Service scheduled activities, such as Audit, Line Start-up, Help Desk, Service Work, and modifications.
- Carry out line/machine restarts following maintenance or modification, Upgrade, Retrofit.
- Execute Service Work, modifications, upgrades, and retrofits.
- Create detailed technical reports indicating performed and pending activities.
- Coordinate and manage on-site external sub-contractor technicians.
- Manage technical, operational, and temporal details of each intervention in compliance with received instructions.
- Ensure on-site work conditions align with safety standards, evaluating necessary corrective actions in cooperation with the Site Coordinator and Service Project Manager.
- Perform internal tasks such as troubleshooting, remote activities, and Help Desk services.
- Assist the Center of Competence (CoC) with development of new products and upgrades.
- Provide input on equipment layout for new projects, recommending optimum design.
- Install mechanical upgrades without CoC presence on site.
- Troubleshoot complex process issues with a strong understanding of LPT equipment systems.
- Lead a team on installation and/or equipment commissioning.
- Create complex Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment and systems.
- Inspect, repair, test, and optimize/tune Blow Molders and other beverage and filling equipment.
- Install new Blow Molders and other beverage and filling equipment, both mechanically and electrically.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and process issues to repair equipment.
- Write clear and thorough inspection and field service reports for internal and external use.
- Recommend upgrades and optimizations for equipment.
- Provide accurate labor time estimates for service visits, rebuilds, installations, commissioning, and training.
- Deliver technical training to customers on operation, preventive maintenance, scheduled maintenance, and emergency troubleshooting.
- Initiate recommendations for improved tools and procedures for service operations.
- Support internal stakeholders with parts requests, quoting, and selling upgrades.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (foreign equivalent acceptable).
- 36 months of experience in the job offered or related role, including experience with liquid filling equipment, mechanical installation, service, or repair/troubleshooting.
- Experience installing and servicing liquid filling and beverage equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting software and electrical systems.
- Experience wiring 3-phase motors, 120VAC power/communication, and 24VDC communication.
- Experience leading teams on site.
- Ability to work with instruction manuals, assembly drawings, P&IDs, electrical and pneumatic schematics.
- Experience with Blow Molding equipment.
- Proficiency using bench and hand power tools.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s license.
