About the role

As a Field Service Engineer, you play a direct role in keeping advanced semiconductor systems running at peak performance. Your work enables the production of microchips that power everyday technologies. You will support customers by installing, maintaining, and improving complex equipment on-site, help transfer knowledge, and build strong partnerships while contributing to continuous innovation. In this role, you will work independently while collaborating with teams to deliver reliable results and improve system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze equipment issues by gathering and interpreting diagnostic data.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on advanced systems.
  • Plan service activities, including tools, parts, and customer scheduling.
  • Collaborate with customers to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Document service activities and ensure clear handoff to support teams.
  • Train customer staff on system use, maintenance, and best practices.
  • Share knowledge and support the development of less experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in the semiconductor or high-tech equipment industry.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and standard business software (spreadsheets, presentations, documentation tools).
  • Familiarity with electromechanical systems, diagnostics, and maintenance processes.

Other information

This position is located on-site in Baltimore, MD and requires onsite presence. It requires up to 50% travel, both domestic and international.

  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to move around the campus and must be willing to work in a clean room environment for the entire duration of the shift, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, and gloves.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights or weekends when needed.
  • Must be work authorized in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

Pay

The current base annual hourly range for this role is $37.86–56.79. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors unique to each candidate, including job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities, and pay relative to other team members.
