What You’ll Do as a Field Service Electrician
- Troubleshoot and repair CAT engine controls, electrical systems, and power generation equipment at customer locations.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and point-to-point drawings.
- Install Class 1 Div 2 conduit and wiring, including enclosure lighting panels.
- Perform Load Bank testing and work with Low, Medium, and High Voltage systems.
- Fabricate and install engine harnesses and solder wire connections.
- Install and wire generators, switchgear, controls, conversions, and related components.
- Generate detailed field service reports for customer documentation.
- Provide exceptional customer service while on job sites.
Position Requirements
- Mustown an associate’s degree or certificate from a technical school preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience troubleshooting engine controls and wiring.
- C175 engine experience a plus.
- CAT Switchgear experience a plus.
- Proficient with AC/DC circuits, schematics, and general mechanical systems.
- Able to operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely.
- Strong understanding of Caterpillar generators, switchgear, and load bank operations.
- Field service experience with diesel engines, gas compression, and PLC/HMI systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in the field.
Preferred Experience
- CAT switchgear certification and CAT training.
- Prior military mechanic experience is a plus.
