Field Service Diesel Technician

About the role

Diagnoses and completes less complex repairs to engines at the customer’s site. We are looking for a talented Field Service Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Charlotte, NC. We offer up to $5,000 sign‑on bonus to external candidates, relocation assistance, competitive pay and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Engage in ongoing development and certifications on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools

Requirements

• Completes complex internal engine repairs
• Performs engine overhauls unassisted
• Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
• Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software
• Subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre‑employment drug testing; ongoing random drug and alcohol testing
• Current valid driver’s license required
• 5‑year motor vehicle report free of major violations
• Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
• Minimum 3 years driving experience
• Must comply with DOT driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Logging Device use
• Must be 21 years of age or older (Federal law for commercial vehicle operators)
• Preferred: Apprentice‑trained Engine Technician
• Preferred: Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution
• Locally valid driving permit
• May require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations
• Basic level field service work experience
• Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
• Customer service experience

Pay

Base salary range: $56,800 – $85,200 per year (commensurate with experience).
