About the role

As a Field Safety Manager, you will ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors on utility-scale energy projects. This role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing safety protocols, collaborating with project teams, and fostering a safety-first culture throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments; partner with project teams to embed safety from planning through execution.
  • Lead safety training and awareness efforts, including onboarding, toolbox talks, and ongoing education for employees and subcontractors.
  • Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions; maintain accurate records and ensure timely regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state/local regulations; serve as the point of contact for audits and inspections.
  • Drive a strong safety culture through continuous improvement, performance tracking, and collaboration with leadership and field teams.
  • Identify hazards and implement risk mitigation strategies, including development and enforcement of emergency response plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (Preferred).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in safety management, with a focus on energy, construction, or industrial projects (utility-scale energy projects preferred).
  • Proven track record in managing safety for large, complex projects.
  • Solar, BESS, or wind power project experience (Preferred).
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (MS Projects, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Certifications in safety management (CSP, CHST, EHS, HAZWOPER, NFPA 70E, etc.).
  • Safety trained for field work (OSHA 30).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
