Field/Pump Diagnostic Mechanic I

About the role

The role requires a highly skilled mechanic to perform various tasks including diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing pump systems and associated equipment. The position also involves prioritizing and making decisions regarding equipment repair, performing advanced welding, and mentoring other employees.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform the removal, repair, and installation of pumps, pipelines, fire water systems, interceptor wells, potable water systems, hydraulic systems and their associated parts.
  • Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on pumping systems by checking bearings, greasing, purging, monitoring motor and coupling temperatures, adjusting packing, and inspecting for visual and vibration signs of breakdown.
  • Maintain work orders and perform work area inspections.
  • Train and mentor other employees.
  • Perform advanced welding (Stick, Mig, Intershield, Drisco Fusion) and fabrication of brackets, headers, and other related components.
  • Operate equipment such as trucks, bobcats, forklifts, mobile cranes, backhoes, loaders, road graders, and small mobile equipment.
  • Act as a Fill-in Supervisor as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction).
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • FPM Diagnostic Mechanic I certification: Ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while achieving 35% score on a written assessment where required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous mine experience and experience with pumps, piping, and related systems preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.

Criteria/Conditions

  • This is a Safety sensitive role.
  • Exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
  • Occasional lifting of moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $27.00 - $36.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.

Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam. Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing. Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
