About the Role

Moss' Solar Electrical Field Project Engineers assist the Electrical Assistant and Electrical Project Manager in the administrative and technical management of large utility-scale Solar projects. This role involves supervising activities related to contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and scheduling. A positive attitude and adaptability are essential, as the role requires interaction with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Crew Management:
  • Coordinates project start-up by reviewing owner contracts, assisting with startup checklists and site utilization plans, coordinating mobilization, and participating in subcontractor and vendor selection.
  • Identifies critical issues and milestones, finalizes Prolog set-up, participates in construction schedule development, and joins subcontractor project orientation.
• Reporting:
  • Facilitates project administration by expediting subcontractor and vendor agreements, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, managing check-hold lists, and maintaining jobsite files.
  • Processes progress photos, assists with project status reports, coordinates with project staff, maintains Prolog, generates correspondence, administers the RFI process, and ensures compliance with company policies.
• Tool Connex:
  • Tracks project costs by processing subcontractor and vendor pay requests, assisting with owner payment tracking, monitoring subcontractor back charges, and updating labor cost reports.
  • Supports the change order process by creating change requests, reviewing scope changes, determining schedule impacts, issuing owner notifications, expediting pricing, preparing cost proposals, and negotiating costs.
• Material Acquisition (Procurement/Inventory/Logistics):
  • Expedites materials by developing submittal logs, establishing fabrication and delivery schedules, confirming material delivery, conducting submittal/SD review processes, and reviewing coordination drawings.
  • Monitors off-site stored materials, coordinates owner-furnished materials, and verifies fabrication status.
  • Coordinates construction activities by strategizing with the Superintendent, conducting subcontractor pre-construction meetings, maintaining activity tracking logs, and participating in schedule updates.
  • Conducts quality control inspections, verifies field installations, ensures safety compliance, coordinates material storage, participates in daily superintendent and jobsite meetings, and maintains material expediting logs.
  • Participates in project team visits, coordinates activities with user groups, and assists with agency inspections.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Six months to one year of minimum Solar internship or full-time experience as a project engineer, assistant project engineer, or electrical foreman in the construction industry.
• Strong computer skills, including familiarity with construction project management applications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface with owners' representatives, A/E teams, building departments, and other stakeholders.
• Basic finance skills.

Physical Demands

This position requires frequent physical activity in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions. The employee must regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. The role involves lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with occasional assistance required for heavier loads.
