About the Role
Moss' Solar Electrical Field Project Engineers assist the Electrical Assistant and Electrical Project Manager in the administrative and technical management of large utility-scale Solar projects. They support supervising activities related to contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and scheduling. This role requires a positive attitude and adaptability to interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates project start-up by reviewing owner contracts, assisting with startup checklists and site utilization plans, coordinating mobilization, and participating in subcontractor/vendor selection.
- Expedites materials by developing submittal logs, establishing fabrication and delivery schedules, confirming material deliveries, conducting submittal/SD review processes, and monitoring off-site materials storage.
- Coordinates construction activities, including strategizing with Superintendents, conducting pre-construction meetings, maintaining activity tracking logs, participating in schedule updates, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
- Facilitates project administration by expediting subcontractor/vendor agreements, preparing meeting agendas/minutes, managing check-hold lists, maintaining jobsite files, and administering the RFI process.
- Tracks project costs by processing subcontractor/vendor pay requests, assisting with owner payment tracking, and updating labor cost reports.
- Supports the change order process by creating change requests, reviewing scope changes, determining schedule impacts, and negotiating proposal costs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Six months to one year of Solar internship or full-time experience as a project engineer, assistant project engineer, or electrical foreman in the construction industry.
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with construction project management applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interface with owners' representatives, A/E teams, building departments, and other stakeholders.
- Basic finance skills.
Work Environment
This position requires frequent physical activity in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions. The employee must regularly stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. The role involves lifting and carrying materials up to 50 pounds, with occasional heavier loads requiring assistance. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, loud noise levels, and extreme temperatures may occur. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.
This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position requiring high travel across multiple states. Reports to the Solar Electrical Superintendent.
