Field Operations Supervisor
About the Role
Transco Rail Services, part of Marmon Rail (a Berkshire Hathaway company), operates a growing network of facilities and field service teams across North America, supporting customers in transportation, energy, and manufacturing. We are looking for a Field Operations Supervisor to lead site-level operations, drive performance, and build high-performing teams. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead site operations with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity
- Conduct daily site walks to monitor work progress, identify risks, and ensure compliance
- Drive performance against key metrics including turnaround time, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction
- Manage staffing through recruitment, scheduling, training, and workforce planning
- Facilitate daily team huddles (toolbox talks) to align on safety and production goals
- Ensure accurate and timely repair tracking, reporting, and customer updates
- Monitor and report KPIs including productivity, turnaround, and cost metrics
- Participate in and support safety and quality audits
- Oversee billing accuracy and timely completion
- Support employee development, onboarding, and training initiatives
- Lead and reinforce continuous improvement and visual management practices
Supervisory Responsibility
- Directly manages site employees and daily operations
- Responsible for hiring, training, performance management, and employee development
- Leads disciplinary actions and conflict resolution in accordance with company policies
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of safety practices and quality standards
- Ability to manage teams, schedules, and production priorities
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with KPIs, reporting, and operational metrics
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or some college (preferred)
- Experience in railcar repair, manufacturing, or industrial environments (preferred)
- Background in multi-site or customer-facing operations (preferred)
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (preferred)
Work Environment
- Combination of field and office-based work
- Regular time spent in a railcar repair facility environment
- Exposure to industrial conditions (noise, weather, equipment movement)
- Physical activity including walking, climbing, and light lifting
- May require extended hours based on operational needs
Schedule
- First Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday
Location & Travel
Baytown, Texas. Occasional daily travel required.
Pay
Base Salary: $80,000
