Ring Power Corporation, a full-line Caterpillar dealer with headquarters in St. Augustine and locations throughout Florida and the Southeastern United States, is seeking a Field Maintenance Trainee.
About the role
This position conducts all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to safety, environmental, and contamination control policies. The role involves performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing machine components, and completing technician training classes as part of the Field Maintenance Trainee program.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies and procedures.
- Wear and enforce proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist in preventive maintenance tasks, including changing fluids, filters, pulling SOS samples, lubricating/cleaning components, and testing equipment performance with mentor support.
- Maintain a minimum set of tools for diagnosing, disassembling, and assembling machine components to manufacturer specifications.
- Attend and complete required technician training classes in the Field Maintenance Trainee program.
- Learn to supply required information, documentation, and photos for repairs and additional services identified during preventive maintenance visits.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area while adhering to contamination control guidelines.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain personal company service literature and stay updated on technical industry changes.
- Work nights and weekends as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 12-18 months of experience in a related field or preventive maintenance.
- Ability to comprehend written material and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Valid driver’s license with a clear motor vehicle record (MVR).
- Prior experience working autonomously in a related technical role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in using computers, Microsoft Office products, and relevant dealer software programs.
Working Conditions
- Schedule: Work is typically performed after regular business hours (e.g., night shift) with rare exceptions.
- Workload: Involves occasional changes in priorities, complexity, and quantity of work.
- Stress Load: Occasional exposure to stress (less than 20% of the time).
- Environmental Conditions:
- Frequent exposure to inside conditions (protected from weather but not temperature changes).
- Constant exposure to outside environmental conditions (no protection from weather).
- Occasional exposure to extreme cold or heat.
- Frequent exposure to noise (requiring shouting to be heard), vibration, and hazards (e.g., moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, heat, or chemicals).
- Frequent exposure to fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils.
