Field Investigator

About the Role

Join the Burlington Stores team as an Asset Protection Field Investigator and advance your asset protection career with one of the largest and fastest-growing off-price retailers in the nation. This role supports the company's shortage objectives by directing Asset Protection investigations in an assigned group of high-risk stores. You will collaborate closely with store and field asset protection teams and operational business partners to identify, analyze, and mitigate shortage risk through investigations and proactive measures to minimize dishonest behaviors. This position also involves developing future Asset Protection Investigators to effectively and safely mitigate theft and fraud.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee all Asset Protection investigative processes in assigned locations, ensuring investigations align with company core values and legal/ethical standards.
• Work closely with the Burlington Investigations Center to respond quickly and effectively to leads, fostering confidence in store and field teams.
• Develop and maintain relationships with store and field leaders, ensuring open and honest two-way communication.
• Execute team-based investigative deep dives to address theft trends at the local store and market level.
• Collaborate with company supply chain and third-party providers to identify and resolve theft and shortage issues.
• Build productive partnerships with law enforcement and peer retail investigations partners to mitigate theft and fraud.
• Work cross-functionally with Asset Protection, Shortage Control, Safety, Store Operations, HR, Legal, and Training and Development teams to coordinate investigations, training, and program compliance.
• Conduct trend analysis of inventory shortage, internal and external theft, and other shortage and safety indicators, communicating findings to key stakeholders.
• Reduce civil exposure by identifying and correcting behaviors outside of policy or company core values, adjusting training methods as needed.
• Partner to create learning activities, knowledge checks, and assessments to enhance learning adaptation.
• Conduct training seminars with Asset Protection field leadership, investigators, and supervisors through various mediums (in-store, WebEx, etc.).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of Retail Asset Protection experience.
• Strategic understanding of the retail loss prevention and security environment with a proven record of influencing change.
• Experience conducting internal investigation interviews and managing external apprehension programs with a proven ability to resolve incidents.
• Wicklander-Zulawski Interviewing Certificate and CFI (Certified Forensic Interviewer) preferred.

Pay

Salary range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year.

Full-time, salaried position. In-office/on-site role based in Braintree, Massachusetts.
