The Weitz Company's Denver, CO-based Rocky Mountain business unit is seeking a Field Engineer to be located onsite in Telluride, Colorado, supporting a landmark hospitality and resort project. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Telluride for the duration of the project.
About the role
The Field Engineer assists with the supervision of field work performed on assigned projects by The Weitz Company or its subcontractors, typically reporting directly to the Project Superintendent. This role offers hands-on field experience while working alongside an experienced project team.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the development of the project plan, moisture infiltration plan, risk mitigation plan, freeze review plan, etc., and ensure proper execution.
- Make recommendations to the supervisor for design or other changes that will enhance project quality, reduce costs, improve scheduled completion, or decrease construction costs.
- Assist Superintendent with equipment review and planning.
- Assist Superintendent with pre-construction meetings with appropriate subcontractors prior to their start in the field.
- Maintain and protect all tools, equipment, and materials on the jobsite.
- Assist Superintendent with layout, ensuring information is conveyed to involved parties.
- Assist with site logistics and cleanup to present a professional image to the public.
- Maintain accurate cost reporting.
- Respond effectively to RFIs and coordinate responses in the field.
- Assist the Project Superintendent in developing, updating, and maintaining the project schedule.
- Document all delays and inform the Project Superintendent.
- Monitor field performance for all aspects of the project, including subcontractors, employees, consultants, schedules, quality, and costs.
- Maintain routine relations with owners’ and architects’ representatives; assist with resolution of major disputes or problems.
- Set up, organize, read, communicate, and update project schedules utilizing computerized scheduling software.
Requirements
- An industry-related college degree is required.
- A previous internship with a construction-related firm or a minimum of two years of project management construction experience.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to balance and prioritize projects with impending deadlines.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Apple products (iPhone & iPad).
- Ability to learn specific software; experience with Procore, JDE, and Asta is preferred.
