About the role
In the role of Field Engineer/Resident Project Representative, we'll count on you to:
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
- Maintain accurate daily records of the contractor's daily activities and the work performed, and of the labor, equipment and materials used
- Review construction materials for Contract compliance
- Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance
- Attend and/or chair construction progress meetings
- Conduct observations of the installation and acceptance testing of completed equipment and systems
- Identify nonconforming work, develop project punchlists and maintain until corrected
- Develop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance
- Aid with project audit/closeout
Responsibilities
Work under general supervision of a Design Project Manager
Supervise and direct the activities of junior Resident Project Representatives and Construction Inspectors, testing services and subconsultants
Requirements
- E.I.T. or Professional Engineer (PE) license desirable
- Certified Construction Manager (CMM) certification is recommended
- Candidates hired without their PE will have the title of Resident Project Representative
- 2+ years of New York City Transit experience
- Track Training
- OSHA 30PMG123
- Ability to interpret construction schedules
- Ability to problem solve and provide possible solutions to the engineer
- Ability to use computers and other electronic devices
Preferred Qualifications
- Local candidates to NYC area able to work within the 5 NY Boroughs
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or combination of education and relevant experience
- A minimum of 5 years progressive construction experience on multidisciplinary projects
- A fundamental understanding of contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction
- The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
- The ability to work in a team environment
- The ability to be computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages
- The ability to have excellent verbal and written communication skills
