Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services, currently seeking a Field Engineer for a major infrastructure project in Norfolk, Virginia, USA (on-site position). The project involves highway, bridge, and structure work with an estimated duration of 6 months. When the project ends, we strive to place employees on other projects for continuity.

About the role

The Field Engineer will provide on-site engineering support during night operations, ensuring productivity, accurate documentation, quality control, and effective coordination with superintendents and subcontractors. This role is essential to maintaining compliance with project specifications and execution schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field engineering support during night shift operations.
  • Prepare and maintain daily field reports.
  • Track quantities and production progress.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities on-site.
  • Support inspection processes and quality control procedures.
  • Follow up on RFIs and technical queries.
  • Prepare and update as-built documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and project standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related technical background.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction projects.
  • Experience in heavy civil or infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction documentation and field reporting.
  • Ability to coordinate subcontractors and support site supervision teams.
  • English level: C1 (Advanced).
  • Local profile preferred.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 12-hour shifts (day or night shift), plus alternating Saturdays.
