About the role

The Field Engineer I - Structured Cabling will be responsible for installing and operating low-voltage/structured cabling systems and equipment. They will troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems, create shop drawings, and manage technical work in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Install and operate low-voltage/structured cabling systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose and fix equipment problems, including testing and troubleshooting system components and functions.
  • Create shop drawings and submittals for new project kick-offs.
  • Manage technical work in the field with minimal supervision.
  • Assume ownership of project installations and provide support to field staff and project managers.
  • Assist with project close-outs by quality-checking projects, testing equipment, creating punch lists, and assisting with project estimates.
  • Interface with subcontractors during pre-construction activities and serve as a technical liaison between the field and Pre-Construction/Estimating.
  • Develop or deliver structured guidance for Leads and Superintendents on project setup, documentation organization, and workflow planning.
  • Support the development of best practices and job readiness materials.
  • Conduct detailed field walks for prospective or change order opportunities and provide comprehensive written scope narratives, system outlines, and constructability notes.
  • Identify and document existing conditions, infrastructure constraints, and access limitations during site assessments.
  • Assist sales staff with product and system demonstrations.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, positive approach, professional demeanor, and leadership skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • High skill level in interpreting blueprints and project documents.
  • Ability to work well with others and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in commercial low voltage/structured cabling.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
  • Meet Company minimum driving standards.
  • Ability to travel within branch or regional territories as needed.

Pay

Min USD $22.00/Hr. Max USD $30.00/Hr.

Schedule

Full-time, direct hire position.
