Field Engineer I, II, or III (Wind/Renewables - Nationwide Opportunities!)
Join our team and contribute to building the future of renewable energy. As a Field Engineer, you will travel to various construction sites across the U.S., ensuring projects align with design specifications and meet quality and safety standards.
About the role
This is a traveling position, up to 100% of the time, with projects lasting 8-12 months on average. You’ll inspect and monitor construction activities for large-scale wind and solar projects, collaborate with project management to address challenges, and ensure compliance with blueprints and codes. We provide a designated daily per diem, monthly vehicle allowance, and routine travel home rotations from the jobsite.
Responsibilities
- Promote and adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
- Inspect and ensure the quality of work on wind and solar projects, including roads, excavations, concrete, substations, and installations.
- Verify construction aligns with design documents and specifications.
- Review test and inspection reports; communicate failures to the Field Quality Manager.
- Ensure materials comply with approved submittals.
- Perform basic surveying and measurements for roadways and structures.
- Organize daily activities to record QC and QA data accurately.
- Prepare comprehensive Daily Reports detailing completed work and resource usage.
- Prevent and address deficiencies through quality control inspections.
- Collaborate with site management to ensure QA/QC compliance.
- Assist in developing operations and maintenance manuals.
- Support receiving and inventory processes for site materials.
- Create and manage punch lists for completed work.
- Help manage production and extra work authorization logs.
- Prepare daily project updates and validate calibrated tools.
- Utilize construction management software for quality inspections and documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Capable of completing and passing the local or state-certified SWPPP inspector program with working knowledge of SWPPP project management plans.
- Experience in related construction fields (requirements vary by level).
- Self-starter with strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proficient in software for documentation, analysis, and retention of quality records.
- Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and technical procedures.
- Detail-oriented to manage tasks independently and collect field data effectively.
- Basic algebra and geometry skills for calculations and measurements.
- Ability to communicate clearly with a diverse group of field-level employees.
Qualifications
We offer three levels for this role, each with specific experience and education requirements:
- Field Engineer I:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- High school graduate or equivalent with two or more years of related construction experience.
- Field Engineer II:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with one to two years of experience.
- High school graduate or equivalent with three or more years of related construction experience.
- Field Engineer III:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with two to three years of experience preferred.
- High school graduate or equivalent with four or more years of related construction experience.
Pay
- Field Engineer I: $65,000–$70,000/year
- Field Engineer II: $70,000–$80,000/year
- Field Engineer III: $80,000–$90,000/year
