Entry-level, non-degreed position supporting a construction project team with document control, change orders, cost tracking, and procurement.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing change orders (time extensions, cost adjustments) and maintain the change-order log.
- Distribute executed change orders to field personnel.
- Prepare and execute cost-control budget adjustments to keep the project within the approved budget.
- Administer the project quality-management plan and reinforce a culture of safety.
- Participate in risk management: identification, analysis, response planning, and monitoring.
- Develop and integrate a procurement schedule with the project CPM schedule.
- Ensure timely completion of project processes and equip the team with necessary information.
- Support execution of the project management plan (PMP).
- Develop understanding of prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, drawings, and specifications.
- Perform project-scope activities to ensure successful project completion.
- Generate, collect, distribute, store, and retrieve meeting agendas, RFIs, and daily reports.
- Maintain “As-built” contract documents.
- Compile close-out requirements: operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, and job-specific items.
- Participate in material takeoffs (concrete, asphalt, earthwork, utilities).
- Procure material and equipment; coordinate and review submittals for compliance.
- Implement procurement and material-management plans.
- Support self-development and the development of other team members.
Requirements
- 2+ years of similar construction experience.
- Associate’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of training/related experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and basic computer skills.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.).
- Frequent reaching above shoulder heights and below the waist; occasional stooping, kneeling, or bending.
- Occasional climbing of stairs, ladders, etc.
- Frequent use of hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects.
- Frequent interaction with people during the workday.
- Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects.
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk short distances for the entire duration of a shift.
