Field Coordinator and Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor(Remote or On Campus)

About the Role

The Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at the University of the Pacific, School of Health Sciences, seeks a full-time, twelve (12) month Assistant/Associate/Clinical Professor. The MSW Program offers a specialized practice concentration in health care and social work, with opportunities for students to focus further in health-related and behavioral health areas. The curriculum follows the competency-based education model of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and integrates inter-professional and simulation lab training activities. The accelerated hybrid program includes a sixteen (16) month accelerated sequence for students with any bachelor's degree except social work and a twelve (12) month advanced standing option for students with a bachelor's degree in social work.

The role emphasizes Field Education, including didactic and clinical education, cross-teaching within the School of Health Sciences, and familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards. Scholarship activities are valued and incorporated into all faculty roles.

Responsibilities

• Assist and manage all assigned aspects of field education programming for the MSW program.
• Participate in the CSWE accreditation process, particularly for field education components.
• Lead curriculum development for field education, ensuring effective linkages between field education and the didactic curriculum.
• Participate in department meetings, college, and university committees.
• Perform academic duties including advising, career mentoring, classroom teaching, and team-teaching.
• Recruit, develop, and approve internship sites locally and across California for hybrid and/or online tracks.
• Collaborate with agencies to build partnerships, respond to changing needs, and resolve concerns under the leadership of the Field Director.
• Assign faculty and students to field classes and provide coaching and mentoring for field education faculty and students.
• Utilize and maintain program and student data in internship tracking software.
• Provide advising support for students regarding internship issues and respond to student/agency emergency needs.
• Teach field seminars and courses in the MSW Program.
• Engage in scholarship activities, with an emphasis on collaborative projects with community organizations, public agencies, and other university programs.
• Contribute to service expectations for the Program, University, community, and profession, including committee work and participation in faculty development, student-faculty functions, and graduation ceremonies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
• Minimum two (2) years of post-graduate employment experience.
• One (1) year of employment in a direct practice social work setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Academic experience in Bachelor or Master of Social Work Education.
• Clinical supervision experience with MSW students and graduates.
• Emphasis on social work practice in teaching and professional work.
• Strong knowledge, skills, and experience working with diverse students and client/patient populations.
• Experience with hybrid and online pedagogy.
• Experience with social work field education, placements, curriculum, and seminars.
• Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
• Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Demonstrated experience advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
• Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in work.

Work Environment

• Workload varies by trimester and is assigned by the Program Director in consultation with the Director of Field Education, balancing teaching, scholarship, and service.
• Travel required up to twenty percent (20%) of total time based on field program needs. Valid driver's license required.
• Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using a computer keyboard and phone.
• Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Promotion and Evaluation

This is a non-tenure track position. The initial academic rank of Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor will be determined by the promotion and tenure committee based on qualifications and experience. Faculty members maintain a dossier documenting activities and accomplishments for annual evaluations and promotion reviews. Yearly evaluations by the MSW Program Director may determine merit salary increases.
