Oversee the day-to-day execution of outsourced lighting work by coordinating contractor activities, directing them to ensure safe, compliant, and timely completion of assigned work, and initiating corrective actions while escalating any safety, quality, or performance issues that require supervisory intervention.
Responsibilities
- Verify site access, permits, and conditions prior to work start and assess job sites for access, environmental, and safety conditions.
- Assess job scope and complexity to assign priorities and resourcing needs; coordinate and verify material and equipment availability.
- Secure permits and environmental clearances; validate designs are complete; develop switching or outage plans.
- Prepare job sites with pre-staged materials and traffic control; manage field paperwork and safety documentation including EWPIS, switching orders, and hot line holds.
- Provide daily field status updates documenting progress and issues; identify process improvements related to access, materials, or coordination.
- Maintain documentation supporting field readiness procedures.
- During emergency and storm response, verify site access and readiness and support crews overcoming roadblocks while ensuring equipment and materials availability.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors performing lighting installation, maintenance, and repair work; ensure adherence to safety requirements, work standards, and job specifications.
- Conduct regular field observations, visits, and inspections to verify work meets quality standards and complies with Power Delivery requirements.
- Audit work to confirm it meets established standards and provide sign-off on work order completion.
- Monitor progress of assigned lighting work and address execution issues; validate work completion by confirming quantities, locations, and adherence to scope.
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely closure of work orders; recover accurate asset information to improve customer billing accuracy.
- Identify safety, quality, or performance issues and take corrective action with contractors; escalate complex or systemic issues to Lighting Supervisors.
- Serve as primary point of contact between contractors and internal teams to ensure timely completion of lighting work, including coordinating material deliveries and logistics.
- Provide regular status updates, issue visibility, and performance feedback to Lighting Supervisors.
- Communicate directly with customers to confirm target completion dates, provide status updates, and notify upon work completion.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED; some college or technical certification preferred.
- 0-1 years of experience in the utility industry or relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated exceptional leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills; team player.
- Experience in managing/executing capital and/or O&M projects.
- Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of utility electric system design and operations, budgets, financial procedures, and property accounting.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including ability to clearly communicate technical subject matters to less technical stakeholders.
- Ability to influence others with or without direct authority.
- Strong problem-solving capability, critical thinking, and questioning attitude.
- Understanding of Change Management and Configuration Management principles.
- Skills necessary to manage projects on schedule, within scope, and within financial targets; ability to report progress.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
- General understanding of distribution operations’ processes and systems.
- Knowledge of Entergy Contractor management requirements and processes desirable.
- Knowledge of Entergy’s Safety Standards and Safe Work Practices desirable.
- Working knowledge of Entergy safe work rules associated with installation and maintenance of lighting products.
- Ability to perform quality engagement with internal and external field personnel.
Benefits
This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing.
Schedule
- As a provider of essential services, employees are expected to be available to work additional hours, alternate locations, and perform additional duties during storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company.
- Travel percentage: 25% to 50%.
Primary work locations: Mississippi - Clinton, Brookhaven, Natchez, or Vicksburg.
