About the role

Join our team as a Field Construction Technician – DOT, delivering high-quality Tuff Shed products and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Safely deliver Tuff Shed storage buildings to Home Depot stores, customer properties, and retail sales lots.
  • Perform customer service warranty repair tasks on customer sites effectively, efficiently, and courteously within the scheduled timeframe.
  • Provide feedback to the management team to determine eligibility of warranty issues.
  • Deliver excellent customer service when dealing with current and prospective Tuff Shed customers.
  • Support off-site special events such as Home Shows.
  • Assist with management and upkeep of Home Depot displays and marketing materials.
  • Log on-duty hours on the provided Electronic Logging Device (ELD) in compliance with Tuff Shed and DOT requirements.
  • Inspect DOT vehicle before and after trips, logging pre/post-trip inspections.
  • Keep the Area Manager/Operations Manager informed of service and maintenance requirements on the DOT vehicle.
  • Report defective, worn, or inoperable tools (electric, pneumatic, consumables, extension cords, air hoses, etc.) to management in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the vehicle’s GPS device remains connected and operable at all times.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of the construction industry, basic carpentry skills, basic roofing skills, and basic painting skills.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, working drawings, and speed square.
  • Ability to operate air compressors, air tools, hammer, saw, drill, and other basic power tools.
  • Customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand instructions given orally, in writing, or in diagram form.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, including customers, business partners, suppliers, co-workers, managers, and the general public.
  • Basic understanding of building permit requirements for the local territory/region (preferred).
  • Ability to use mobile application systems for scheduling, reporting, etc.
  • Ability to solve problems using sound logic and good business judgment.
  • Experience driving a flatbed truck, box truck, and/or towing trailers, unloading, and transporting materials.
  • Experience as a “big box” delivery driver is a plus.
  • Experience with vehicle inspections.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR.
  • Ability to meet DOT requirements.
