Field Clinical Specialist - West
About the role
OrganOx is a commercial stage organ technology company focused on improving patient outcomes for those with acute or chronic organ failure. Founded in 1921, Terumo Corporation, which owns OrganOx, aims to contribute to society through healthcare solutions. The Clinical Specialist role involves training and supporting users of OrganOx’s products, particularly the metra® machine, which helps preserve donor organs for transplantation.
Responsibilities
- Train and support organ retrieval and transplant teams in the safe and effective use of the OrganOx metra according to OrganOx's policies and procedures.
- On-call 24/7 for about 15 days a month (including holidays and weekends) for remote and onsite support.
- Organize Site Initiation & Refresher Visits, training sessions (in person and remote), and centralized training events.
- Communicate effectively and promptly with transplant teams, internal management, and coworkers.
- Create and write case study reviews with guidance for senior colleagues.
- Support managers, directors, and other internal staff in various assignments, either remotely or onsite.
- Participate in R&D activities in lab settings under the direction of management.
- Work with liver transplant teams to collect data on livers perfused and preserved on the metra to build a database of product performance and use.
- Ensure vendor credentialing requirements are current and able to pass routine background checks and drug screens.
- Attend local, regional, national, and international meetings and conferences, in person or virtually, on behalf of OrganOx as a supporter, participant, or presenter as needed.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with end users of all levels.
- Perform administrative tasks related to expenses, email, and other communication activities.
- Ensure personal understanding of all quality policy/system items that are personally applicable.
- Follow all work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high-quality work.
Qualifications and Requirements
- BS degree in combination with equivalent medical experience, with 3+ years' experience in ICU, ECMO, Cath Lab, OR, Transplant, and ED.
- Must be highly flexible and willing to support sites as needed within and across North America.
- Strong problem-solving skills, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively and build rapport with internal and external contacts.
- Excellent customer-facing skills, ability to work calmly and professionally under pressure, and enthusiasm for working at a fast pace in a dynamic environment.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency.
- Travel: Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time for training, investigator meetings, monitoring responsibilities, corporate meetings, and educational seminars.
- Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit for significant periods of the day while working on the computer, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and work in a remote, work-from-anywhere environment.
- Work Environment: This is a work-from-anywhere, remote job wherein meetings and collaborations can occur across multiple time zones.
- Work Accessibility: Must live within an hour of a major airport.
