About the role

As a Field Chemist, you will sort and transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste, ensuring compatibility and safety in all processes. The position reports to a Field Office and is dispatched to regional projects during the day, returning to the office at the end of each shift.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times.
  • Assist in the segregation of chemicals by hazard class, pack compatible materials in appropriate containers, and prepare them for transportation; complete necessary paperwork for each job.
  • Determine and load supplies needed for job completion and travel to various industry, laboratory, and educational sites to perform lab pack services.
  • Assist in characterizing materials at field project sites.
  • Adhere to proper placarding and load segregation requirements when transporting hazardous materials.
  • Develop good customer relations by effectively communicating with site points of contact and others at customer locations.
  • Appropriately direct Field Technicians/Drivers assisting with waste collection.
  • Maintain an introductory knowledge of high-hazard materials management/assessment and cylinder handling.
  • Maintain the ability to travel to support outside locations as needed.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (required); Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
  • In lieu of degree, 2+ years of related experience (required); previous experience in lab packing or environmental waste (preferred).
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 6 months of hire date (required).
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record search to Company standards (required).
  • Due to potential exposure to atmospheres/waste/materials, this position requires individuals to be clean-shaven at all times to properly don a respirator.

Schedule
