Field Chemist

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Sort and transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste, ensuring compatibility and safety.
• Prioritize health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices.
• Segregate chemicals by hazard class and pack compatible materials in appropriate containers, preparing for transportation.
• Complete necessary paperwork for each job.
• Determine and load supplies needed for job completion and travel to various industry, laboratory, and educational sites for lab pack services.
• Assist in characterizing materials at field project sites.
• Adhere to proper placarding and load segregation requirements when transporting hazardous materials.
• Absorb and direct Field Technicians / Drivers who are assisting with waste collection.
• Maintain an introductory knowledge of high-hazard materials management / assessment and cylinder handling.
• Travel to support outside locations as needed.
• Take on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.

Education & Experience

• Associates degree (required); Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
• In lieu of degree, 2+ years of related experience (required), previous experience in lab packing or environmental waste (preferred).
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 6 months of hire date (required).
• Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record search to Company standards (required).

Physical Job Requirements

• Must be clean-shaven at all times to don a respirator for protection.
