About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Field Applications Engineer, Analog & Power, to serve as the technical lead for analog and power solutions, supporting system-level design engagements with key customers. This role requires the ability to translate component-level expertise into system-level solutions, accelerate customer designs from concept through production, and build strong, trusted relationships with customers and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer power architecture development, including power-tree design, device selection, and system optimization.
- Perform technical design reviews, root-cause analysis, and hands-on debugging of complex analog and power-related issues.
- Drive new product evaluations and competitive positioning for the Renesas analog and power portfolio, including PMICs, DC/DC converters, LDOs, battery-management products, and signal-chain solutions.
- Conduct extensive hands-on laboratory work, including board bring-up, measurement, validation, and failure analysis.
- Support system-level design integration, ensuring alignment among power, processor, and connectivity subsystems.
- Provide direct technical guidance to customers to accelerate designs from concept through production and revenue generation.
- Deliver field feedback to product divisions to influence product roadmaps, feature prioritization, and the identification of system-solution gaps.
- Develop and deliver customer training sessions, technical seminars, and internal enablement content.
- Translate component-level expertise into system-level solutions while building strong, trusted relationships with customers and internal teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 6+ years of experience in analog and power electronics within a design, applications, or customer-facing engineering role.
- Ability to lead customers through analog and power design challenges from architecture through debug and production readiness.
- Strong relationship-building and cross-functional collaboration skills across sales, FAEs, distribution, product marketing, and business-unit teams.
- Ability to provide system-level customer feedback that supports product development and roadmap alignment.
- Experience delivering technical presentations, customer training, and design workshops.
- Ability to travel approximately 10%–20%.
Qualifications
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Deep expertise in power conversion and management, including buck/boost converters, PMICs, LDOs, power-tree sequencing, and battery-powered system design.
- Expertise in configurable mixed-signal analog technologies, sensor technologies, and CPU companion or attach products.
- Strong understanding of analog signal chains, including amplifiers, data converters, filtering, noise, stability, and signal integrity.
- Experience with system-level analog and power architecture, schematic and PCB layout review, power integrity, thermal considerations, bench characterization, validation, and debug.
- Knowledge of power interaction with MCUs, MPUs, DDR, high-speed interfaces, AI platforms, and connectivity subsystems.
- Hands-on laboratory proficiency with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal-analysis tools, and transient-response measurements.
