Responsibilities
- Understand the process of installing and networking OSP fiber networks.
- Read prints to understand the installation process.
- Read and understand splice allocations and recognize their purpose.
- Use OTDR and test and prepare test reports.
- Test and troubleshoot equipment before installation.
- Comply with all OSHA safety regulations.
- Set up safety perimeters and signage.
- Maintain and submit all paperwork necessary for jobs completed.
- Maintain a clean work environment including trucks/trailers.
- Drive and maintain work truck including fluid levels, tire pressure, and report any problems to a supervisor.
- Maintain job-specific inventory and equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years previous experience.
- May be required to work some nights, weekends, or be on call.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at high elevations (manholes, hydraulic lift bucket, poles, ladders etc.).
- Knowledge of utility pole hardware & lineman tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and maintain a professional attitude.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver license – CDL preferred.
- Clean driving record.
- Legal to work in the US.
- Pass a background check and drug screen.
- Own transportation.
- Able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work standing for full shift.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at high elevations (manholes, hydraulic lift bucket, poles, ladders etc.).
- Lift up to 75 lbs.
