FERC/PJM ADVISOR PSC COMMISSION ADVISOR

Position Details

The Maryland Public Service Commission is seeking a Senior Advisor to the Commissioners, focusing on policy matters related to PJM Interconnection, Inc. (PJM) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) that impact Maryland.

Position Duties

• Conducting research and providing advice on various technical/policy issues, as well as other duties.
• Supporting, assisting, and recommending in matters relating to energy, specifically FERC and PJM, and other matters before the Commission.
• Participating in Commissioner meetings, administrative meetings, and hearings.
• Participating in relevant meetings, stakeholder groups, and proceedings related to PJM and FERC.
• Preparing reports and handling sensitive projects for the Commissioners.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, in engineering, economics, law, or related degree.
• Experience: Four years of experience performing legal, utility, energy, engineering, or economic policy analysis or related duties.
• Two years of experience working on issues related to PJM and/or FERC.

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications

• A Graduate Degree or Juris Doctorate.
• Ratemaking experience at state regulatory commission, consumer advocate, or utility.
• Knowledge and a practical understanding of electricity and gas industries and wholesale markets.
• Knowledge and practical understanding of FERC and PJM and the Federal Power Act.
• Knowledge of transmission planning or operations or power plant operations.
• Knowledge of PJM Tariff, Reliability Assurance Agreement, and Operating Agreement and Manuals.
