Female Social Personal Assistant – HMANCL

This role supports Hannah, an 18-year-old with severe learning difficulties and Autism, in exploring her local community and gaining independence. The position requires a hands-on, experienced Personal Assistant who can assist with personal care and become an extension of the family.

About the role

Hannah is a bubbly, happy individual who loves music, dancing, singing, and her collection of "Hello Kitty" toys. She enjoys using gadgets and is comfortable both at home and out in the community. The role involves encouraging and motivating Hannah to try new experiences, such as using public transport, visiting nail/hair salons, swimming, and trips to food outlets or the beach. While Hannah is generally calm, she may display challenging behaviors in unfamiliar situations and requires constant supervision due to having no sense of danger.

You must be comfortable around dogs, as the family has two cockapoos who participate in activities.

Responsibilities

• Accompany and assist Hannah in community activities to foster independence.
• Provide personal care assistance as required.
• Encourage and motivate Hannah to try new experiences, such as using public transport or visiting local amenities.
• Assist with activities like swimming, trips to salons, food outlets, and the beach.
• Supervise Hannah at all times due to her lack of danger awareness.
• Work flexibly around Hannah’s routines, which are very important to her.
• Engage with Hannah’s interests, including music, dancing, and electronics.

Requirements

• Experience working with individuals with severe learning difficulties and Autism.
• Ability to provide hands-on personal care assistance.
• Flexibility to adapt to Hannah’s routines and needs.
• Comfortable supervising and supporting someone with no sense of danger.
• Must love dogs, as the family has two cockapoos.
• Car driver preferred but not essential; must be willing to use public transport.
• At the time of starting employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.

Pay

£14.50 per hour.

Schedule

10 hours per week, including weekends.

Location

Newcastle Upon Tyne.
