About the role

Provide culturally responsive therapeutic counselling to young people.

Strengthen connections with Aboriginal communities across regions.

Lead cultural advocacy within specialist treatment services.

Responsibilities

  • You will provide counselling, cultural guidance and community engagement within a specialist therapeutic program.
  • You will deliver counselling and therapeutic interventions for young people and families.
  • You will conduct culturally informed psychosocial assessments.
  • You will provide cultural consultation to clinicians and services.
  • You will develop and deliver community engagement and capacity building initiatives.
  • You will collaborate with government and non-government agencies.

Requirements

  • You must hold a NSW Class C drivers license and be willing to use it for work purposes.
  • You must have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling or completion of the ECAV Qualification Pathway.
  • You must be registered with or eligible for membership of the relevant professional body.
  • You must demonstrate cultural expertise.
  • You must be able to provide clinical or cultural supervision and / or consultation.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or counselling deemed appropriate by employer or completion in in the ECAV pathway.
  • Registered with or eligible for membership of the relevant professional body.
  • Demonstrated cultural expertise.
  • Accreditation or willingness to undertake accreditation with the Child Sex Offender Counsellor Accreditation Scheme administered by the NSW Children's Guardian.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team.
  • Understanding of trauma, child sexual abuse and the principles of family focussed intervention.
  • Experience providing clinical or cultural supervision and / or consultation.

$126,524 – $129,591 per annum
