About the role

The Food Service Fellowship at YMCA of the Rockies is designed to foster growth and skill development in culinary techniques, team management, menu building, and more. A personalized plan will be created to focus on your specific areas of interest, involving collaboration with the Food Service Director, Executive Chef, and Sous Chef.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the outlet chef/manager to develop tools such as menus, schedules, orders, inventory sheets, etc.
• Direct aspects of food production during shift, such as ordering, storage, preparation, cleaning, portion control, inventory, and record keeping while ensuring culinary excellence.
• Execute planned meals to the specifications of the Food Service Director and Executive Chef.
• Plan delicious and nutritious meals to optimize facility and staff utilization for customer needs.
• Maintain a hygienic, neat, clean, professional appearance and presentation at all times.
• Be available for work holidays, weekends, and morning or evening shifts.
• Be timely and dependable for scheduled shifts.
• Basic food preparation and sanitation knowledge required.

Requirements/Qualifications

• SERV Safe Certification or completion within 3 months of hire.
• Operational knowledge of a wide variety of F.S. equipment including computers, dish machines, broilers, steamers, ovens, slicers, tilt skillets, etc.
• Ability to work in other kitchen areas as needed.
• Fluent in written and oral English.
• Adequate time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
