About the role

Join CHS as a Feed Mill Operator in Corsica, SD. In this hands-on role, you’ll produce high-quality livestock feed by operating equipment, supporting day-to-day production, and keeping the facility running safely and efficiently. No direct feed mill experience is required—we provide on-the-job training. This position offers schedule flexibility (1st to 3rd shift), onsite training, forklift certifications, and the opportunity to be part of the largest cooperative in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Operate feed mill equipment (grinders, mixers, batching/pelleting systems) to ensure product quality, safety, and throughput.
  • Conduct continuous inspections, monitor equipment, record operating parameters, and adjust machinery to meet specifications and production targets.
  • Comply with regulations, complete necessary recordkeeping, and implement safety requirements.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance (greasing, inspections, minor troubleshooting) and report mechanical issues.
  • Maintain housekeeping, sanitation schedules, and the general appearance of the work area.
  • Receive, handle, and move feed ingredients; load and unload trucks.
  • Prepare and manage loadout, including opening hatches, attaching hoses, sampling, and ensuring accurate product delivery.
  • Complete initial, ongoing, and supplemental training.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, identify workplace hazards, and correct or report unsafe conditions.
  • Collaborate with co-workers to support plant operations, solve problems, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operations.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in operations, production, manufacturing, and/or agriculture environments.
  • Must meet minimum age requirement.
  • Ability to operate machinery such as loaders, conveyors, tractors, and track mobile.
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Agriculture experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work independently for extended periods, including in confined spaces and hazardous environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb steps/ladders for long periods, including working at heights up to 120 ft.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Ability to wear required protective equipment (respirators, hard hats, eye/hearing protection).
  • Ability to use automated and manual tools/equipment.
  • Ability to shovel, sweep, load, and unload materials in noisy, dusty, and all-weather conditions.

Pay offered will vary based on experience, education, training, skills, certifications, and local wage requirements.
