Federal Tax Manager
About the role
The Global Tax team is hiring an experienced Tax Manager to join the Federal Tax Accounting and Reporting Team. This position plays a vital role in the end-to-end preparation, review, and filing of the Consolidated Federal Tax Return and related cross-border tax schedules, as well as certain aspects of the quarterly tax provision process.
The ideal candidate combines technical mastery of complex tax law with sharp analytical instincts, strong project leadership, clear communication skills, the ability to multi-task and prioritize various projects, attention to detail, and a desire for problem solving. Beyond compliance, this role supports the Planning Team by advising operational leaders and business teams, evaluating the tax implications of new commercial initiatives, business transactions, and day-to-day operations while ensuring full statutory alignment with evolving federal tax law.
This position reports directly to the Director, Federal Tax Accounting and Reporting.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Federal tax return and provision processes, including reviewing book/tax differences, reconciliations, and analyses, and utilizing OneSource software to complete various processes
- Handle routine U.S. cross-border reporting requirements and associated international schedules (e.g., Forms 5471/5472) connected to the annual federal filing, keeping international tax aspects aligned with core U.S. compliance
- Identify and assist with the implementation of process/system improvements related to the return and provision processes, specifically leveraging Gemini AI tools
- Review quarterly estimated payments and annual extensions
- Manage monthly tax credit capacity forecasting
- Assist with internal and external control documentation & testing
- Research and/or review internal documentation to support tax compliance and planning positions
- Travel as needed
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
- At least 5 years of experience in corporate tax compliance within a public company, an accounting firm, or a combination
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Tax
- Certified Public Accounting (CPA) Certification
- Tax experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm or financial services environment
- Software proficiency in OneSource, Alteryx, BNA Fixed Assets and Research
- Experience with Gemini or similar AI tools
- 1+ year of experience managing indirect or direct reports
Pay
McLean, VA: $151,900 – $173,400 for Manager, Tax. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
