About the Role
The Federal Project Executive (PX) is a senior leader who drives the success of large, complex federal projects from kickoff through closeout, ensuring every phase meets rigorous government standards. Operating at a strategic level, the PX connects project teams, clients, and company leadership—aligning day-to-day execution with Willmeng’s high expectations and federal compliance requirements. This role champions operational excellence, proactive problem-solving, and strong relationships to deliver outstanding results on every federal project.
Responsibilities
- Provides strategic leadership and oversight for large federal construction projects, guiding teams from start to finish.
- Mentors and supports project managers, superintendents, and field teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensures strict compliance with all federal regulations, contract terms, and safety standards, including Davis-Bacon Act requirements.
- Proactively identifies, analyzes, and mitigates project risks, resolving issues as they arise.
- Develops and manages project budgets, tracks financial performance, and approves spending plans and change orders.
- Acts as the primary liaison with federal clients and agencies, managing expectations and building strong relationships.
- Drives business development by pursuing new federal contracts, leading proposals, and negotiating terms.
- Oversees clear communication and reporting, ensuring all project documentation meets federal and company standards.
- Leads pre-construction planning, staffing, and the establishment of work plans, policies, and procedures for project success.
Requirements
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; extensive experience may substitute.
- Brings 5–7+ years of progressive construction management experience, including success on large federal projects.
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of construction processes, quality standards, and federal regulations.
- Builds, leads, and mentors high-performing teams, ensuring accountability and project excellence.
- Possesses strong business acumen in contract terms, financial management, and business development.
- Excels in communication, negotiation, and problem-solving to drive results and manage client relationships.
