FEC Termination Tech

About the role

The First Electronics Corporation (FEC) is seeking a Termination Technician to join our dedicated wire and cable termination team. Our team ensures that wire signals and electrical performance meet customer design and expectation standards.

Responsibilities

• Wire preparation
• Insulation removal
• Crimp pin onto wire conductor
• Insertion of wires into connectors
• Measurement of wire (SAE Standards)
• Soldering and applying solder sleeves
• Using a heat gun to flow solder
• Checking for electrical continuity with a low-voltage wire buzzer
• Tinning of wire
• Solder application to wire, contact pins, sockets, and terminal lugs
• Understanding numbers and letter symbols on a wiring diagram
• Termination of metal shield braids
• Exposing wire conductors underneath shielding

Requirements

Minimum vision (aided with magnification) requirements and an ability to understand and carry out work instructions and take supervisor instruction are important in this role. Prior experience with IPC-620 cable manufacturing and proficiency with any of the tasks detailed above is strongly desired, although not required. The company will provide training on internal FEC/Trexon processes and systems, as well as training for the role, which includes removing wire, insulation, tinning the wire, using a crimp tool to crimp a contact onto the wire, and using proper insertion tools to insert wires into connectors.

Skills

We seek team members who demonstrate attention to detail, patience, and manual dexterity, pride of workmanship, and an ability to understand training principles for proper cable and wire manufacturing techniques.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this job include standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds and occasionally crouch, stoop, or reach. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
