Feature Lead - Lead Android Engineer

About the Role

This role provides leadership, technical direction, and oversight to a team delivering technology solutions within Bank of America's Enterprise Payments Technology (EPT) group. EPT is a global payments team responsible for a wide range of financial platforms and services, including Merchant Solutions, Card Issuing, Digital Wallets, Transfers, Liability Payments, and Settlement. The team processes approximately 18.8 billion transactions annually, facilitating the movement of roughly $693 trillion.

As part of the Merchant Business Software Suite (MBSS) team, you'll contribute to a large-scale, multi-year program aimed at delivering a scalable and customizable point-of-sale software solution across various industry verticals. This initiative stems from a recent strategic acquisition to expand the Bank's Merchant Services capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and delivers software features
  • Applies enterprise standards for solution design, coding, and quality
  • Ensures solutions meet product acceptance criteria with minimal technical debt
  • Guides the team on work breakdown and execution
  • Collaborates with the Product Owner to maintain a healthy product backlog with clear acceptance criteria
  • Acts as a team lead (individual contributor) and mentors team members
  • Guides team members on skills and practices, including planning, estimation, peer reviews, and engineering practices

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience coding solutions and unit testing to deliver requirements/stories per defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • 5+ years of experience designing/developing/modifying architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while maintaining principal architecture integrity
  • Proven experience with Java and Kotlin Android Application in production-level applications
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and JSON
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and agile development methodologies
  • Experience mentoring Software Engineers and coaching teams on CI/CD practices and automation tools
