FCCPS BUS AIDE

Performs responsible human support work assisting with the transportation of pupils to and from school and special events. Provides help to the school bus driver in maintaining discipline and assisting students in boarding and leaving the school bus. Work is performed under immediate supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist the school bus driver with pupil transportation.
• Maintain discipline on the school bus.
• Help students board and exit the school bus safely.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eighth grade.
• Some experience in working with children.
• Basic first aid experience and skills.
• CPR certification.

Physical Requirements

• Light work: exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and negligible force constantly.
• Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
• Vocal communication for expressing or exchanging ideas.
• Hearing to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
• Visual acuity for depth perception, peripheral vision, inspection of small defects/parts, operating machines/vehicles, and observing surroundings.
• Exposure to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
