About the role

The role is open to individuals with a passion for software engineering who do not necessarily have a traditional background in computer science or engineering. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team of innovators at BAE Systems' FAST Labs, where we conduct research and development in advanced electronics, autonomy, sensors & processing, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, and cyber operations & defense.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement software solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Develop software applications in languages such as C++, Python, and MATLAB, utilizing technologies like Cloud Native Technologies (Kubernetes, Harbor, Helm) and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Participate in agile development processes to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Develop software solutions that interface with hardware devices such as FPGAs, GPUs, and embedded SoCs, utilizing protocols like UART, I2C, SPI, and CAN.
  • Apply DevSecOps and CI/CD practices to ensure the security and integrity of software solutions.
  • Utilize containerization (e.g., Podman/Docker) and cloud technologies to develop scalable, reliable, and efficient software solutions.
  • Design, develop, and test software applications for RF, radar, EO/IR, electronic warfare, or software defined radio systems, including signal processing, data analysis, and system control.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • 2+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience with Object-Oriented design, development practices, and implementation in C++11 (or later)
  • Experience developing for and operating in a Linux environment

Preferred Skills

  • MATLAB experience
  • Python development experience
  • Experience with General Purpose Graphical Processing Unit (GPU) OPENCL or CUDA
  • Experience in a rapid prototype environment
  • Real-time, embedded, multi-threaded, low latency development and/or Linux application development

This range is based on our market pay structures. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
