About the role
Our Practice Yan Farm Health is an ambitious, independently owned, rapidly expanding farm animal practice and an active member of XLVets. We mainly work with progressive commercial farmers based in South Cumbria, North Yorkshire and North Lancashire, with a healthy mix of dairy, beef and sheep enterprises ensuring no two days are the same. We aim for our vets to work closely with a smaller number of farms per vet, allowing them to provide an exceptional and comprehensive veterinary service, and to build long-term relationships with clients. We foster these relationships by ensuring that we are engaged with the local community and are a positive and supportive place to work.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with engaged and open-minded clients in a small team that supports each other in delivering exceptional veterinary care
- Conduct routine TB testing (four-yearly parishes)
- Perform fertility work including bull and tup assessments
- Use modern diagnostic equipment such as ultrasound scanner, dynamic parlour testing equipment (Vadia), and in-house laboratory
Requirements
- Vet with 1 to 5 years' experience preferred

- Ability to work with modern veterinary equipment including ultrasound scanner, individual laptop, dynamic parlour testing equipment (Vadia), bull and tup fertility equipment, and in-house laboratory equipment

Pay
Competitive salary dependent on experience
Schedule
- Four-day working week for full-time vets
- Equal share of the on-call rota
- Daily work is mainly pre-booked
- Out-of-hours work is quiet
Location
Based on the edge of two of England's largest national parks: the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The location offers excellent opportunities for outdoor pursuits including fell running, watersports and walking, as well as easy access to Liverpool, Manchester and Edinburgh by road and rail.
