About the role
Farm supervisors are responsible for the general maintenance and management of the farm. Their work is mainly supervisory, and they plan and organize the activities on the farm. Farm supervisors should also be able to do practical work on the farm so that they can give guidance and advice to the farm workers.
Responsibilities
- Plan and organize the activities on the farm.
- Serve as a liaison between the farm workers and the farm management.
- Supervise the fertilization program and the preparation of the farmlands before the crops can be planted.
- Ensure that the desired quantities of fertilizer and weed killer are administered.
- See to it that the products are processed, sorted, and packed after the cropping.
- Maintain and operate vehicles such as tractors and other farming implements.
- Assign employees to the proper field while ensuring height, adjustment of mowers, and moisture are maintained.
- Operate watering systems.
Requirements
- Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred but not required.
- Leadership and the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships are important.
- Farm supervisor must be able to work independently and make decisions.
- Strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to take direction and apply it to job performance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in agriculture or related field.
- Knowledge of farming practices and equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.
