Organic Growers Alliance · Elkhart, Indiana, United States · 2 wk ago
ManagementFull-time
About the role
We are seeking a Farm Manager to help us get our first season off to a good start, work with us to crop plan for future years, and help transform the farm into a thriving agroforestry project for the Northwest. Kindling Farm was established to create a fairer and more sustainable food and farming system for all. Last year, we purchased a 31-hectare (78-acre) farm in Knowsley to establish an organic fruit and vegetable-based agroforestry system, demonstrating that climate- and wildlife-focused farming is an economically viable option.
Responsibilities
- Oversee cultivation and production for field-scale vegetables, including squash, brassicas, celery, radish, beetroot, and beans.
- Manage approximately 1,000m² of protective cropping, including tomatoes, spring onions, radish, leafy greens, with tunnel area expanding as finance allows.
- Establish the first strawberry beds.
- Work with the team to deliver Countryside Stewardship and Sustainable Farming Incentive agreements at a farm level.
- Develop the crop plan for the coming winter and next season.
- Collaborate with us to build the Kindling Farm team over the coming years.
Start date: Monday 31st March 2025 (or as soon after as possible).
