Summary of Program and Position
The Ulupono Family Strengthening Program aims to enhance the internal resources of families facing challenges with their children. Family support specialists on Oahu and Maui work with parents/caregivers of children aged birth to 17 years old. They provide parenting education, promote child health, development, and safety, offer emotional support, and link families to community resources.
Essential Duties
- Ensure service delivery aligns with funding agency, state law, and PACT policies and procedures.
- Conduct home visits, engage families through outreach, and assess strengths and issues.
- Develop goals and objectives with the family, complete required assessments, and intervene according to timelines.
- Provide evidence-based social services using a trauma and healing-informed approach, focusing on parenting skills, child development, alternatives to corporal punishment, and resource identification.
- Link families to necessary community resources and conduct follow-up activities.
- Maintain regular case consultations with supervisors, accept support, and report progress, challenges, and significant issues.
- Complete thorough, clear, and non-judgmental documentation and submit paperwork in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related human services field required.
- Valid driver’s license and daily access to an automobile.
- Proof of no-fault insurance.
- Ability to obtain an acceptable pre-hire driver’s abstract.
- Criminal background check upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
- CWS background check upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
- National Sex Offender Registry Check upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year relevant working experience in child abuse and neglect case management services, including comprehensive home visiting assessments, domestic violence, and substance abuse.
