Family Services Advocate - Baltimore City Head Start
About the role
The Y Family Services Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring 100% enrollment for Head Start programs and maintaining a waiting list. They advocate for families, develop trusting relationships, and provide support services to meet family goals.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement a Head Start recruitment plan for program participants
- Work within the community, with families, and with parents/guardians, acting as an advocate for families
- Develop and maintain trusting relationships with families and parents/guardians
- Identify family goals, strengths, and necessary services for each family
- Ensure parents have opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge that aid in child development
- Work with families on an individualized basis
- Establish and maintain a waiting list for Head Start programs
- Collaborate with community partners to coordinate services
- Report on program progress and outcomes
Requirements
- An interest in the well-being and education of young children
- Enthusiasm, patience, good humor, and a good spirit
- The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates
- At least 2 years of experience working with adults in the Human Services or Social Work field
- Prior Head Start experience (preferred)
- An associate's degree in social science, human services, or related field OR a bachelor's degree in family studies, social work, human services, or related field (preferred)
