Family Service Worker

Responsibilities

• Recruiting and enrolling children of eligible families
• Providing social services case management activities including the completion of the child health requirements.
• Supports the larger system of services provided by Head Start/Early Head Start, thereby supporting the goals of the program.
• Maintains a full caseload of children
• Maintains an ongoing waiting list to ensure vacancies are filled within 30 days
• Counsels families through the enrollment process
• Conducts a minimum of two (2) home visits per family to facilitate family plans
• Affirmatively seeks out and assists families in achieving identified goals
• Follows up on referrals made by families
• Makes a minimum of 10 contacts per week with assigned families (contacts entire caseload at least once a month)
• Documents contacts in database/file
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in social work or a related Human Service field
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with families facing economic and social challenges
• Strong knowledge of social work practices, child development, and local resources
• Familiarity with Head Start Performance Standards
• Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification
• Health exam and TB Screening required
