About the role
This position provides outreach to families with children from birth to five years living within the District and surrounding communities. The incumbent supports families with the information, resources, referrals, and educational opportunities to ensure the safety, well-being, and optimal development of young children.
Responsibilities
- Contributes comprehensive information, resources and referral services to support healthy, safe and developmentally appropriate environments for young children, ages birth to five years.
- Assists the coordination of community resources and partnerships that provide services to families with children from ages birth to five years.
- Assists the recruitment and enrollment of families in the WRIC parenting activities and early childhood learning experiences for their children.
- Maintains attendance records in the activities and workshops.
- Facilitates or co-facilitates parent education workshops, family early-literacy and social-emotional learning activities and family support groups that focus on early childhood development.
- Collaborates with WESD Social Services Department to coordinate resources to meet families' and children's needs at all 32 WESD schools.
- Attends school family engagement activities, First Things First meetings, and other workshops and trainings related to early childhood development and parent education.
- Supports the quarterly collection and preparation of data for First Things First data reporting system and supports periodic updates to the WRIC quarterly plans to implement First Things First Standards of Practice.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Two years experience working with parents/families and community members.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with parents, schools, community and district office staff.
- Knowledge of First Things First Family Resource Center programs for families with children, ages birth to five years.
- Organizational skills.
- Record-keeping skills.
- Computer word-processing and basic EXCEL spreadsheet skills.
- Ability to navigate the First Things First (FTF) PGMS system.

- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
