About the role
Wells Gray Medical Clinic is seeking three physicians to join its collegial, full-scope practice in Clearwater, BC. The clinic is centrally located in town and only five minutes from the hospital, supported by a dedicated, experienced, and highly connected MOA team. There is strong collaboration between clinic and hospital teams and an excellent team culture with colleagues who genuinely enjoy working together. The practice uses Med-Access EMR / Meditech Dr. Helmcken Memorial.
Facility and community
Clearwater is a welcoming small town of 2,388 people, set against the majestic mountains of Wells Gray Provincial Park. The community is known for its generous spirit, outdoor recreation, and relaxed pace of life. Residents enjoy hiking to waterfalls, paddling pristine rivers, and exploring rugged backcountry year-round. In winter, the peaks become a snowy playground. Clearwater offers all the amenities of a sustainable community, including education, healthcare, and recreation, with a safe and peaceful environment.
Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital is a 24-hour Level 1 community hospital completed in 2002, with a 24-hour Emergency Room. It features six private acute care beds, six stretcher beds in the Emergency Room, and an attached 21-bed Long-Term Care Unit. The hospital provides inpatient and outpatient services including Laboratory, Electrocardiogram (ECG), Radiology, Physiotherapy, Home Care, Home Support, Public Health, Environmental Health & Protection Services, Diabetes and Dietitian Teaching, and Mental Health services through Yellowhead Community Services.
Compensation
Estimated remuneration: $400,000 – $450,000 (includes rural fee premium). Physician overhead is shared equally between physicians.
Benefits and incentives
- May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including:
- Retention Premium: 20.02%
- Retention Flat Fee: $31,025
- Relocation funding available: $9,000 – $15,000 depending on move location
- Recruitment Incentive: $20,000
