Family Practitioner/General Practitioner
We are seeking a permanent part-time or full-time Palliative Care Physician to join our multidisciplinary team in the Cowichan Valley, based in Duncan, BC. This role involves providing care in community home visits, long-term care, acute care, and a local hospice, as part of a team dedicated to high-quality, compassionate, patient-centred care. The successful candidate will offer consultative support across settings and mentor generalist palliative care providers through education and clinical advice.
About the Facility
Cowichan District Hospital is known for its collegial and collaborative atmosphere among generalist and specialist medical staff. Affiliated with the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the Island Medical Program, this role includes participation in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, offering a rewarding clinical and academic experience in a supportive, community-oriented environment.
Requirements
- CCFP certification
- Completion of a one-year enhanced skills program in Palliative Medicine with a Certificate of Added Competence (CAC) through the College of Family Physicians of Canada, or a minimum of four years’ experience as a palliative care consultant

May be eligible for additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including:
- Recruitment Incentive: $10,000 (full-time)
- Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
- Fee Premium: 4.20%
- Annual Flat Fee: $6,508.80
- Rural CME: starting at $3,000/annum in years 3 & 4, up to a maximum of $6,000/annum after 4 years
