About the Centre
Services at the Nlaka'pamux Primary Care Centre will be designed to provide wraparound, team-based primary care, mental health, and traditional wellness services. The centre will provide safe spaces for First Nations people and their families seeking high-quality primary care services. It is expected that the centre will operate Monday to Friday (excluding Statutory Holidays) during regular business hours, though this may change over time due to operational needs.
About the Role
The Family Physician will serve as the most responsible provider for a client panel, collaborating within a team-based environment that supports both Western and Traditional Wellness approaches to client health and wellness. A minimum panel size of 650 clients per 1.0 FTE is typically expected by year 3, as confirmed in the clinical service contract. The Family Physician may be required to travel with the team to different sites as needed.
NHSS Health offers an opportunity for a Family Physician to practice care grounded in respect, connection, and understanding within the Lytton area. This role is rooted in community, extending care beyond the clinical setting into long-term relationships. The community has demonstrated resilience following significant natural disasters, and practicing in this rural, remote setting requires creativity, flexibility, and adaptability while centering people and relationships.
Responsibilities
- Practice with cultural humility to provide primary care in a culturally safe, team-based environment.
- Recognize the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the client (and family) to deliver whole-person care.
- Comply with policies and procedures of acceptable BC health and wellness regulations and standards.
Requirements
- Active practicing license in good standing with the College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC).
- Training in Cultural Safety & Humility or willingness to complete this training.
- Experience working with First Nations people and communities and providing culturally safe care is ideal.
- Passion for supporting First Nations individuals and families on their health and wellness journeys.

Pay
Full Scope range placement of $290,842 - $363,552, scaled to Full Time Equivalent (FTE). Compensation varies based on whether the scope of services includes facility-based coverage. Additional Rural Retention Program Premium of 16.07%. Family Physicians are not required to contribute towards overhead.
