About the role

The Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry seeks an organized, detail-oriented Family Navigator fluent in both Spanish and English. You will coordinate care and follow-up for families of infants with rare genetic conditions that increase autism-spectrum and related neurodevelopmental risks. This role serves research participants/patients in the Prospective Genetic Risk Evaluation and Assessment (PROGRESS) Autism Center of Excellence at Columbia University, in partnership with the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene and the NYP Center for Autism and the Developing Brain. You will act as the liaison between families, researchers, and clinical/educational providers, linking at-risk infants with early developmental services.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate care coordination across disciplines (e.g., physical therapy, speech therapy, early childhood education) and provide follow-up for patients/families in the community.
  • Engage with community-based providers (early intervention), attend meetings, and help navigate applications for external services (insurance- or early-intervention-based).
  • Access external resources to meet families’ needs during their participation in the research program (ages 2–36 months).
  • Work closely with Spanish- and English-speaking families to integrate care across the lifespan and bridge them to community services.
  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant records and protect personal information.
  • Represent the program at community events and activities.
  • Expand and maintain the resource database by creating new contacts through outreach calls and in-person visits to identify additional participant resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in training and experience, plus three years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated fluency in both spoken and written Spanish and English.
  • Must successfully complete all online systems training requirements.
  • Able to lift at least 10 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.

Pay

$100,000 per year. The salary of the finalist selected will be set based on departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
