About the role

Transform healthcare by diagnosing and treating human disease, illness and injuries while practicing evidence-based medicine. Prescribe medically necessary medications and treatments. Serve on various Carilion and/or hospital committees. Complete necessary documentation for patients' health information records. Deliver high quality, compassionate medical care applying evidence-based medicine to the highest degree possible. Examine patients using various medical equipment, instruments and tests. Order or perform various tests, analyses and imaging to provide information on patients' conditions. Diagnose patients' conditions based on examination, test and report results. Prescribe and administer drugs, treatments and vaccinations. May perform perinatal care, deliver babies, perform surgeries and related invasive procedures. Work closely with case management, nursing, and the medical staff to ensure all patients have an appropriate plan of care and ongoing care coordination.

Responsibilities

• Completes all required documentation timely and accurately.
• Reports births, deaths, and contagious diseases as required.
• Conducts, cooperates, supports, and collaborates on basic and clinical research.
• Develops and tests new medical techniques.
• Supervises medical treatment of patients.
• Supports teaching and mentoring activities.
